HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY: THE LEGACY OF RENZO CAVALLINA

Parma, 26 January 2024 - 'The value of a footballer can be determined by his performances, both individual and team results. The value of a human being can be understood, especially from the strength of his actions and the weight of his choices. The memory of Renzo Cavallina, footballer, goalkeeper, man, teaches us just that.'

The words accompanying the history of Parma Calcio also narrate the life of a man like Renzo Cavallina. In front of the Ennio Tardini stadium, there is a stumbling stone that reads this phrase: 'Renzo Cavallina lived in Parma, born in 1921, captured on 8.9.1943, interned in Berlin-Lichterfelde, Liberated.' Few words that summarize the choice of a man, the suffering, the great courage.

Since January 2021, a stumbling stone has been placed in Piazzale Risorgimento, and Parma Calcio, on the Day of Remembrance, wants to remember it. To transfer its story, from the oldest to the youngest. May it serve as an example for everyone.

Present today was Chief Operating Officer Stefano Perrone, SLO and Corporate Social Responsibility Giuseppe Squarcia, and Youth Sector Manager Mattia Notari, the Primavera Gialloblu team, accompanied by the entire staff: a very intense moment during which Renzo Cavallina's story was told, and the Club wanted to gift the book '110 Cuori Crociati' to all those present.

In addition to the visit in front of the stumbling stone, the moment also expanded to a visit inside the 'Ernesto Ceresini' Museum, to relive the history of our Club.

As with every commemoration, on the Day of Remembrance, Renzo Cavallina's daughter, Ada, and granddaughters Letizia and Raffaella Calestani were present: Parma Calcio gave them a bouquet of flowers as a gesture of remembrance.
