THE EVOLUTION OF MATTEO CANCELLIERI

Collecchio, 27 November 2024 - Matteo Cancellieri, 498 minutes played in Serie A, 2 goals scored against AC Milan (the winning goal) and Atalanta: one every 249 minutes. But the Gialloblu striker is much more than just numbers. He proved it once again in the Serie A game against Atalanta on Saturday 23 November by scoring, cheering on the crowd and being supporting his teammates not only up front, but also defensively. That he is part of the project, and wants to stay in it, there is no doubt. ‘He has great desire, ability and determination, as well as a great left foot. He scored a goal of quality and strength,' stressed coach Fabio Pecchia in the post-match comments.

Desire, ability and determination, qualities that satisfied Pecchia, who has precise plans for him: ‘Matteo has been with us for a few months now, he is evolving. I want to work him as an outside player on the right where he can express himself, but he also does it as a forward. He has good potential for our football. A potential all at Parma's disposal.' Among forwards born from 2002 onwards, he is ahead of everyone with at least 10 completed dribbles in this Serie A. No one boasts a higher percentage of successful dribbles than Matteo Cancellieri: 53.85%, the result of 14 completed dribbles out of 26 attempted in the current tournament - better than Kenan Yildiz (53.49) and Zito Luvumbo (53.57).

Since last season, Matteo Cancellieri (class of 2002, 6 goals in 47 appearances) is one of only three Italians, among those born after 2002, with at least 6 goals scored in Serie A: Lorenzo Colombo (class of 2002, six) and Giovanni Fabbian (class of 2003, six) are the other two.
