Cagliari, 9 February 2025 - Post-match words from the manager Fabio Pecchia after Cagliari-Parma on Matchday 24 of Serie A Enilive 2024/25.
'After we conceded, we lost our shape and became a bit disjointed and in the following 5-6 minutes we allowed Cagliari too much space. However, we then approached the rest of the match very well and we tried to find a route to goal many times. Parma is a team that is full of life, and we really wanted to play our football in this challenging match. I saw personality, even when we had to do the dirty work. I am sorry because we have once again left with no points. We do regret not scoring before conceding as coming back into games is not easy. We have to pay more attention in the defensive phase. But we must keep going because the team must take away from what we do on the pitch. To be honest, we have been waiting too long for three points and we have too often said 'if' or 'but' yet this won't help us to climb the table. We must keep working hard. Today I saw a team that worked right until the last. I liked that we were comfortable on the ball, that we wanted to play and that we never gave up. We have to keep on like this. I saw a lot of great signs against Cagliari: we have had some players come back from injury, some are slightly behind mentally, but we need everyone's help right now. On Djurić's knee injury? Its a shame because we have lost him after only three games and he probably will not play for another extensive period. Next week I hope everyone is available and Bernabé is still recovering, unfortunately its that sort of season. But we must be stronger in everything, more clinical with every chance and we must be brave. I feel sorry for Milan (Djurić) who was a big part of the group, not only technically, but also as a leader. We are going to overcome this setback with our belief in what we do. I know we can get out of this. We need all of the team to be together, which we haven't always had. In January it was even more complicated but we must move forward. We must get some points. We have lost considerable ground in this part of the season but there aren't many points in it at the bottom. Considering that we managed the game well, it was a tough loss to take against Cagliari, just as it was last week against Lecce. And looking back at our last three losses (Milan, Lecce, Cagliari), the fact that we haven't got any points means that we will definitely get some soon. But the team must keep on going as we are on the pitch as I am convinced that we will find the way to win. When you are playing for survival, when there is such a clear goal, we must keep our heads, and we will keep on playing right until the end'
