SERIE B FEMMINILE, MATCHDAY 18: VIS MEDITERRANEA 0-0 PARMA

Solofra, 9 February 2025 - Parma Women took on Vis Mediterranea away from home on matchday 18 of the Serie B Femminile campaign, with the goal of consolidating first place in the league. The clash involved the first place team taking on the last placed team in the league.

Parma took the initiative straight away, but without managing to find the back of the net. After just five minutes, Kajzba threatened the goal with header from a Zazzera cross, while in the eleventh minute, the Slovenian forward went close with a left-footed effort which hit the post.

The Gialloblu continued to push on the flanks, making use of Zazzera and Rognoni's pace. In the 16th minute, Rognoni tried her luck with an effort but her strike went just wide of the target.

The home side came closest in the 28th minute, when Karaivanova dribbled and let off a curling left-footed shot, but she was denied by a brilliant stop from Fierro.

Parma maintained control of the ball, but struggled to find much space against a very compact Vis Mediterranea side, who played with a 5-3-2 formation. The first half ended 0-0.

Parma made two changes at the break, with Ferrario and Distefano replacing Catelli and Zazzera, increasing their attacking incentive. Despite the attacking strength on display, Vis Mediterranea reacted well in the first twenty minutes of the second half, closing down all of the spaces.

The home side came close to getting the opener in the 55th minute thanks to a defensive mistake from the Gialloblu: a misplaced backpass placed Karaivanova in front of Fierro. The forward skipped past the goalkeeper, but their ball around the goalkeeper was too long, allowing for Peruzzo to track back and save a potentially decisive situation.

In the 70th minute, Colantuono subbed on Ploner and Lonati for Kajzba and Zamanian, aiming to give a new boost of energy to the team. Three minutes later, the key moment arrived: Distefano was brought down by Asamoah in the area and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Rognoni stepped up to take it, but Pucova saved her effort. The match remained 0-0.

Parma did not stop pushing and came very close to scoring in the 78th minute through Ploner, who let loose a threatening curling shot from the edge of the area.

It was a difficult day for the Gialloblu, who, despite their numerous chances, could not convert any of their chances.

The match ended 0-0, with Parma tied with Ternana at the top of the table.
