SASCHA BRITSCHGI: “PARMA, MY NEW HOME”

Collecchio, September 11th 2025 – Defender Sascha Britschgi spoke at his official presentation in the press room of the Mutti Training Centre in Collecchio, alongside Director of Football Alessandro Pettinà.

HAPPY TO BE HERE

“From the moment I arrived, my first impression was really positive. Everyone welcomed me warmly and I immediately felt at home. I’m very happy. For a young player like me, this is an ideal environment because the club has a clear and ambitious project for developing young talent. The main goal here is to help players like me grow and improve. My strengths? Power, agility, and explosiveness – qualities I hope to show on the pitch.”

PARMA, A GREAT OPPORTUNITY

'At Luzern we had lots of young players, and there's a large group here at Parma too, but here the quality and intensity are on another level. When I first heard of Parma’s interest, I was really struck by the chance to join a team with such an exciting project for young players. When my agent and the club told me about it, my reaction was simply: ‘Wow.’ I knew this could be a real chance for me to improve. It’s true that I only played three league matches and one cup game with Luzern’s first team, but now that I’m at Parma and I know there’s a plan in place for me, I'm confident that I’ll have the chance to keep developing. The step from the Swiss league to Serie A is a big one. The level here is extremely high. It won’t be an easy challenge, but I’m determined to keep improving.”

I CAN PLAY AS A WINGER OR WING-BACK

“During my career, especially in the youth teams, I played as a winger before I dropped to right back, where I learned a lot and had the chance to push forward in a more attacking role. I believe I can play in both positions. Am I two-footed? With the U21s I played on the left a few times, which helped me improve with both feet. So yes, I feel comfortable on both sides.”

CUESTA, STRENGTH AND ENTHUSIASM

“The coach is a very positive person who constantly transmits energy, strength and enthusiasm to us players, always pushing us forward with real passion. When I arrived, we spoke straight away. He told me that I need to give my best but also to stay patient and focus on developing my qualities – on showing what I can do on the pitch by playing to the best of my ability. I get on really well with him and I’m happy to be working under him, because he has an excellent relationship with all the players. On top of that, he brings great energy. It’s true that he’s young, but his objectives are very clear.”

PARMA FEELS LIKE HOME

“Here at Parma I have a great relationship with all the players. The younger guys welcomed me warmly and reassured me that I can count on them whenever, which really gives me the feeling of being at home. My idol? Since I was about 10 years old, it has been – and still is – Trent Alexander-Arnold. He’s an incredible full-back and very intelligent on the pitch. Simon Sohm? I know who he is, but we don't know each other directly; I’ve seen him play but we’ve never met in person.'
