PRIMAVERA 1, COACH NICOLA CORRENT: ”I'M PROUD OF THE BOYS”

Cercola, 15 February 2026 – Speaking after the win over Napoli, Primavera coach Nicola Corrent said:

“We’re very proud of the result, we deserved to win. We gave a mature performance and showed belief in our abilities. It wasn’t easy: Napoli are a good team with many talented players, they hadn’t lost at home since November, and we were coming off a Coppa Italia victory that took a lot of mental and physical energy out of us. That showed towards the end, because some players began to struggle and we needed fresh legs. Added to that, Castaldo picked up an injury in the warm-up and we were forced into an early change.

I’m also very happy we were able to give Mazzocchi a chance: Astaldi's been doing well recently, but I wanted to give him a rest, and Mazzocchi is a promising goalkeeper with obvious values. I trust what my goalkeeping coach tells me — we see him working every day and felt he was ready for such an important match. Credit to him and to the coach.

We suffered at the start of the second half, which is normal, but we ultimately brought home three important points. The boys now deserve two days off before we start preparing for the next match. Congratulations to everyone.

I also want to highlight Varali’s consistency. He’s now playing regularly and delivering great performances. He’s a 2009-born player who is showing excellent attitude and quality.”
