Noceto, 4 October 2025 – Parma coach Nicola Corrent reflects on the 2-1 defeat to Atalanta in their Primavera 1 clash.
“Today we were less precise than usual. We gave away a few counterattacks and free kicks to Atalanta, and although we had chances to get back into the game, we were a bit off our usual level. Considering the quality of the opponent, we were expected to deliver a top performance, but in several aspects we fell short.
Now we have a two-week break, with some players joining their national teams. I told the squad to keep working with the same focus and enthusiasm we’ve had so far. The league is tough – every team has many talented players: Atalanta today, Genoa next. The international break is always a bit unusual, as we would like to focus more on specific details but the squad won’t be complete. Some players will also play for the first team, so we’ll optimise the time we have and aim to be ready for the next match.
What gave us the most trouble? Their midfielders are very skilled, constantly moving the ball and keeping possession. Beyond tactics, they were aggressive, and we made some mistakes and small errors. I’m disappointed we couldn’t reopen the game more quickly because we had the opportunity to do better.
Konaté? He’s an important player for our balance. He felt a slight muscle strain in the final minutes of the Torino game – nothing serious, but we preferred not to risk him today.”
