FABIO PECCHIA: “WE SHOWED THE DESIRE TO DIG IN AND SCORE GOALS”

Parma, 1 December 2024 – This is what Coach Fabio Pecchia had to say after Parma’s victory over Lazio on matchday 14 of the 2024/25 Serie A Enilive season.

“We need to play each match in a certain way, irrespective of our opponents. In the first part of this campaign, we’ve done better against bigger teams, but I think it’s just a coincidence. Today is a great today. I asked for something extraordinary, and it turned out to be a wonderful day. The only negative is Charpentier’s injury. As for Leoni and Haj, I’m not afraid to play young players. We have a way of doing things, and I see them working every day; therefore, I know what they can give me. I have a young group that needs to grow quickly because we need points.

“Today, there was real participation from everyone, not just the young players; those who came on also did well. I have no doubt that Dennis (Man) can score consistently, and we all expect that from him. As for Zion (Suzuki), he was called into action because Lazio put us under pressure. We tried to respond with our own weapons, and I’m only disappointed with the goal we conceded. Suzuki was nevertheless very good.

“Backed by our crowd, we’ve picked up three very important points today. The atmosphere was fantastic, and we were right in the game, which was a lively affair. Experiencing such a fiery Tardini is a positive aspect. The crowd got involved, and it was really competitive out on the pitch. My players never held back despite their young age and it being Anas’ first start. They showed the desire to dig in, manage the moments and score goals. Haj showed what he’s capable of, but we need to take things slowly as we manage him.

“Overall, it was a great match and great performance, but we need the whole group. I continue to say it: the season will be a marathon. We knew we’d have to dig in today because Lazio have done some extraordinary things in the league so far when it comes to their quality, intensity and organisation. It was a fantastic test for us. Our extraordinary day today is for Enrico after what he and his family have been through in the past few days.”
