MATTEO CANCELLIERI, THE EVERYWHERE MAN

Collecchio, 29 January 2025 - There is no area of the pitch unknown to him. He touches every blade of grass, even if his area is up front, where his instinct always leads him to look for the goal. He is Matteo Cancellieri, striker, 23 years old next 12 February. Matteo is a player who fights, sacrifices himself for the team and often returns to help his teammates in defending, as happened in the last match against AC Milan at San Siro on Sunday 19 January, where - as in the first match played at the Stadio Tardini - he found the goal.

Having arrived in mid-August, Matteo immediately got in tune with his teammates who, even during training sessions, saw a boy who does not back down, who urges on his teammates on the pitch and is a team player off it. Matteo Cancellieri's desire to grow is evident and the numbers this season confirm the qualities of the 22-year-old, who has scored 3 goals in 20 appearances (13 as a starter) in this championship. In this metric, it is worth noting that only once has he done better, in the 2023/24 season at Empoli, with 36 matches and 4 goals.

Cancellieri esulta in Milan Parma

But back to Cancellieri's 3 goals, a haul that makes him the third youngest Italian player with at least 3 goals to his credit in this Serie A season, after Sebastiano Esposito (July 2002, 8 goals) and Lorenzo Colombo (March 2002, 5 goals). But that's not all, because Matteo also boasts being the youngest striker with at least 10 appearances in each of the last four Serie A seasons (from 2021/22 onwards), a figure that highlights his continuity and reliability. If the general data already give a glimpse of who the Gialloblu player is, the specifics show Cancellieri's talent even more strongly.

From a technical point of view, the striker stands out for his dribbling ability: with 23 successful dribbles this season, he ranks first among Gialloblu players along with Dennis Man. Among the Parma players who have taken more than 10 shots at goal, he is also the one with the best scoring percentage (19%), thanks to 3 goals from 16 attempts. But there's more: with the goal against AC Milan, the 22-year-old is, after Antonio Cassano (2013/14) and Hernán Crespo (1999/00), the third Gialloblu to score in two games in a single season against AC Milan in Serie A. The next fixture against Lecce at the Tardini, scheduled for Friday 31 January (20:45 CET), represents another opportunity for Matteo to further improve his numbers and continue to grow as one of the most interesting forwards on the Italian football scene.
