Milan, 26 January 2025 - Comments from coach Fabio Pecchia, at the end of the AC Milan vs Parma match on MD 22 of Serie A 2024/25.
‘Of course we are sad because when you play a match like that and come out of San Siro empty-handed, there is bitterness. But at the same time, I saw so much potential and so many things done well. The desire to dribble under pressure, to defend with order and to go for the goal. And until the last minute, at 2-2, we had a chance to go 3-2 up. Then we returned home empty-handed, but this was still a good learning opportunity for the future. A new spirit? No, we have some more players at our disposal, even within the group. Training all together is another story, when we are still missing a few pieces. The arrival of Djurić, who is an experienced player, is good for the team, not just for the performance on the pitch. I saw a lot of good stuff on the pitch: we showed quality, spirit, both in the offensive and defensive phases. Then, in the end, we paid a bit for our naivety or inexperience, as we had many young players on the pitch. But we look ahead with great confidence because we have an important match against Lecce coming up. Leaving San Siro disappointed? It's a positive; in the locker room there was a great silence, great sadness and bitterness, but obviously we did great things, even if it didn't help to get the three points. We will bring everything we did well to this week's work, and we must play with enthusiasm and confidence to win as many games as possible. Lecce is coming up next and we will try our best, as we did here today.'
