COACH FABIO PECCHIA: ‘I HAVE TO ENHANCE THE QUALITIES OF THOSE AT MY DISPOSAL’

Collecchio, January 18, 2025 - Here are Coach Fabio Pecchia's comments during the press conference before our MD21 game against Venezia, made in the press room of the Mutti Training Center in Collecchio.

VOGLIACCO WILL BE WITH US

‘Alessandro Vogliacco, who can play centre or full-back in our 4-man defence, will be with us. He's in good condition and can be in the match. Leoni is also available. I'm sorry for Balogh: he's had a tough six months, we had counted on him many times. We've got Estévez back; he's been out for a while but he's been more consistent in the last few days, so he'll be there. With Adrian (Bernabé, ed.), we must not get caught up in the frenzy. The players must be ready to start again. This must be clear to everyone. It's difficult to calculate everything. Løvik is not ready yet, but he will be in the team.'

THE MATCH AGAINST VENICE

‘The match against Venezia can also be seen by some as a salvation play-off. The fundamental fact is that we want to win. Each of the two teams has its own issues, its own daily routine. We have to think about us, as we have done in recent matches, with the desire to play good football. Venezia did very well in Turin and Naples; they played a tight game against Inter... This is a demonstration of the level of the league, what we have to do, and what we are doing. I don't think the match against Venezia will be any different from the one we played two months ago. They're a team that wants to play and they won't come to the Tardini without giving their all. It will be a very similar match to the first leg.'

PLEASURE TO HAVE PRESIDENT AT OUR SIDE

‘It's always a pleasure to have President Kyle Krause here with us, and it's always nice to see him close to the team. He was also present for part of the final training in the hours before the game.'

GOALS ARE REACHED AT THE END OF THE SEASON

‘Goals are reached at the end of the season. We had an extraordinary championship last year, but the goal was reached at the end, in the last few days. The goal now is to stay within the competitions, to maintain balance without getting caught up in enthusiasm or depression, and to face all the games with a winning mentality. And that's the great thing about our job: the constant attention you have to put into it. I have to enhance the qualities of those I have at my disposal, take into account the moment we are living in and the general condition of the group. But there are times when you have to manage things and I like that. Everyone is used to seeing an energetic and bright Parma.'

MANAGING DENNIS MAN

‘Man is in the same situation as everyone. In this period in January, there's a peak of flu and stomach aches in the locker room. Everywhere. Of course the call for professionalism and seriousness from every player is crucial in these moments. It's about knowing how to handle these moments, whether they are real or fictitious, regardless of the rumours. Having said that, seriousness and responsibility must be there in every boy and every player. Dennis has continued his partial training, just like last week. It's a matter of managing him.'

KEITA NEEDS TIME

‘Beyond Keita's obvious quality, there is a physiological time for him to express his full potential. I have great faith in him. When the players understand my way of fitting them in, it's easier for them too. He did well in Genoa. I liked the midfield on Sunday in terms of how solid we were. In the last few matches, we changed a lot of things, but the team remained solid on Sunday. Having a midfield like this allows the team to have more balance.'

MIHAILA JUST HAS TO KEEP TRYING

‘I would feel sorry for him if he doesn't score, because he is doing a great job. He will find the way to goal when he least expects it. He just has to keep trying.'
