Milan, 7 November 2024 - From 7 November, the partnership with A Goal for Research, historical campaign organised by Fondazione AIRC, will be renewed. Footballing champions, teams from the Serie A Enilive and the Azzurri will stand side by side Sith 6,000 researchers as they take to the field for research. This is a true mobilisation of the world of football which has been made possible thanks to the precious support of FIGC, Lega Serie A, Enilive and AIA, along with sporting media channels.
The start of A Goal for Research is scheduled for Thursday 7 November, on the occasion of the early game of Matchday 12, and will continue throughout all of the Serie A Enilive pitches before arriving at the Nations League match between Italy and France on Sunday 17 November. Players, coaches and officials invite fans to join their support their teams in scoring as many goals as possible to render Cancer even more curable, using donations via SMS or telephone calls through the number 45521.
The A Goal for Research team have an even more competitive side this year, lead by Gianluigi Buffon, the first person to wear the new shirt with the colours of the Fondazione AIRC. Gaia Buonaurio and Ernesto Cigliano will be by his side, two people who were cured from brain tumours when they were teenagers, and the researchers Giorgia Foggetti (Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele di Milano), who studies genetic factors that can aid a response to curing tumours, and Simone Patergnani (Università degli Studi di Ferrara) working on the molecular mechanisms underlying pleural mesothelioma.
