SPORTING DIRECTOR MAURO PEDERZOLI: “WE FEEL THE SAME ANGER AS THE FANS, WE START AGAIN FROM THE CAGLIARI MATCH”

Parma, 31 January 2025 - The thoughts of Sporting Director Mauro Pederzoli, at the end of Parma 1-3 Lecce, on matchday 23 of the Serie A Enilive 2024/25 season.

'This is a bitter evening, and that's the right way to describe this match. It's been a different evening to what we expected and hoped for. I repeat, it's a very bitter evening, but it doesn't shake the confidence that we have in our technical staff, our coach, our group and our work. The season is long, moments like these happen, even though we always hope that they won't, but you have to anticipate them and face them with strength, this is what we intend to do. We will now proceed with more desire, attention and conviction in who we are and what we have. Here, it's about having the strength and clarity to draw a line and learn from our mistakes, whilst going forward with confidence and great determination. Home clashes being our Achilles heel? It's true, the statistics and results show this. However, if we analyse them, it's hard to find a common denominator. Every match has been different, they have different stories and outcomes, fortunately. I think it's about learning from this evening, but we have to put this behind us, starting from tomorrow morning, and start focusing on the away match against Cagliari. Managing the transfer market and many injuries? It's not easy for us, just like all the other teams. In the end, we need to be clear-headed and know how to balance the positive and negative moments with perspective. The atmosphere isn't positive, but we know that this is a long journey. It's a difficult time, a negative step, but there are 15 games to go and we are determined and convinced to continue with the same determination, pushing forward with even more effort. We are confident that we will be competitive and able to fight for our objectives. Parma is a young and promising team, but at times a bit inexperienced and this costs us. However, it's clear that we have to do more. Cunning? It's clear that we have to learn quickly when it comes to being more streetwise and clever in certain situations. The anger of the fans is understandable, we share this. I see the team, I know how much they work and give. We need to carry on and give something else. We've made five signings and acted decisively in the market. There's still three days left, which is an eternity in the market, we will be attentive on all fronts. I think we need a bit more time to bed in the new players. The market finishes on Monday and we will be there until the end'.
