GIOVANNI LEONI, FIRST SERIE A GOAL

Parma, 10 February 2025 - Giovanni Leoni, at the age of just 18 years and 50 days, scored his first goal in Serie A. His goal, which cut down Cagliari's lead, was a flying header which he precisely guided past Caprile. This goal represents a big step for Giovanni: on just his sixth appearance in the Italin top-flight, at just 18 years of age, it's definitely a personal achievement that he will remember.

In Serie A, the only goalscorer younger than him is Andrea Papetti: who got on the scoresheet at 18 years and 2 days of age, in the match between Brescia and Hellas Verona. On Sunday, however, Giovanni showed great security and authority in his role as a centre-back, after being called-up by Coach Fabio Pecchia. Leoni played 92 minutes in total, before being substituted for Almqvist in the 92nd minute. His numbers show that he made 67 passes (behind Bernabé and Vogliacco with 83 and 69), as well as winning two duels, a clear demonstration of his strength and courage, two attributes that the entire team will need ahead of their upcoming home clashes against Roma and Bologna.
