Parma, 1 February, 2026 - Captain, Enrico Delprato, spoke after Parma vs. Juventus on Matchday 23 of Serie A:
'They were better than us, we were facing a very strong team. We have to be honest about that. At the same time, we need to get back to the team unity and compactness we showed for most of the season, before today and before Bergamo. Against teams like this, if the collective level of sacrifice drops even slightly, they punish you. They’re strong, well-rounded, physical, fit, technical and quick. They caused us a lot of problems today, but conceding four goals is something we have to avoid. We take full responsibility for that. We need to analyse the game calmly and clearly so nights like this don’t happen again. Regarding the new signings, today our focus was fully on the match, but they’ll definitely be players who can help us a lot.
We have to look at these heavy defeats, today and in Bergamo, with a clear head, while keeping our objective in mind. The whole environment needs to understand that we’ll have to fight for every ball, in every game, to reach our goal. We take responsibility for the eight goals conceded in these two matches. Against sides like this, you can lose, Atalanta and Juventus have shown they’re superior in every area: technically, physically and in terms of strength.
But not all defeats are the same. Conceding four goals at home, in front of our supporters, hurts. We need to return to the compact, united team we were at the start of the season. The league is still long and, as last year, our objective is survival. We achieved it in the second half of the final game last season; if we manage it earlier this time, it will be a success and an improvement.
We have to take it one match at a time, every game is a final. We’ll keep working, knowing how painful these last two games have been. We need to learn from them so they don’t happen again. As for the table, we focus on ourselves. We’re five or six points clear of the relegation zone. We’ll look at the standings at the end. To the fans, I say we accept the boos. Tonight wasn’t good enough. We take responsibility, because if our level of sacrifice drops against teams like this, it becomes very difficult and you concede goals. They’re simply stronger than us.'
