COPPA ITALIA FRECCIAROSSA | PARMA 2-0 CATANIA

Parma, 14 August 2026 – Parma’s first competitive fixture of the season saw them host Catania at the Tardini in the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa Round of 32. The Gialloblu won 2-0 and will now face either Cremonese or Sampdoria in the next round.

Two goals from Simone Lontani in the first half sealed the game. The first came from a corner, while the second came from a great run down the right from Touré, whose cross found the No. 76 at the far post to finish first time.

Carlos Cuesta's post-match comments

“Today we can take many positives from the game, but there are also several aspects we want to improve. There were several different phases to the game: we need to adjust certain aspects of our pressing and improve our ability to win the ball back. We are on a journey of growth, with many changes and new dynamics. We need to be ready to compete, and today’s victory certainly helps us.

El Bilal helped us a lot today. He is a player who will give us a great deal and is increasingly settling into our style of play. Konaté, Lontani and Diallo made their debuts. They are players who can help us and who are determined to fight for the team.

Bernabé is focused, experienced, knows Parma very well and has an important history with this Club. He is fully committed and has a great desire to help the team.

The back four? It’s a solution we also used last year, and it allowed us to pick up some wins. We have the option of playing this way.”

Simone Lontani's post-match comments

“It’s a memory I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. It was a dream debut, but now the goal is to keep working hard and try to make the coach’s selection decisions as difficult as possible.

I’m entirely at the team’s disposal and will do my best to meet all the demands that are placed on me. I don’t see myself as a prodigy; I’m simply a young player with a great desire to work and challenge myself.

I have less experience than some of the others, and that’s why I know I have to work even harder. I haven’t achieved anything yet, and I need to keep working. I believe I’m in the right place.”
