CARLOS CUESTA: “HEADING TO ROME WITH HUMILITY AND CONFIDENCE”

Parma, Monday 27 October 2025 – Carlos Cuesta spoke to the media ahead of Roma vs Parma, set for Matchday 9 of Serie A.

ON ROMA

“Roma are a very strong side with a clear identity. Coach Gasperini is a major reference point in Italian football, not only for his ideas, but for how quickly he’s able to transform his teams. It will be a difficult match, but we’ll approach it with humility and great confidence in pursuit of the result we want.

Roma have a clear way of playing both home and away. As for us, our approach won’t change. We expect a Roma side that will try to play in our half, attack the spaces, keep compact, and dominate possession, always with aggression. In attack they can vary, either playing with one or two strikers, or using more width, so we’ll need to read the situations well and make the most of the chances that come our way.”

THE COMO MATCH

“Against Como we built play well, especially in the second half, and showed good solidity even when switching to a back four. I liked the maturity we showed in handling different phases of the game and our determination to go for the win.

As for midfield options, Sørensen, Cremaschi, Hernani, and Benedyczak can all play out wide if needed. Our aim is always to maximise our players’ qualities and create situations where they can express themselves best.

The points we’ve collected so far? I didn’t set expectations — our focus is on raising our performance levels and earning as many points as possible.”

CREMASCHI

“We know Cremaschi can give us something extra with his runs into space and his play between the lines. The American and Italian leagues are very different tactically and in terms of tempo, so he’s still adapting. But from what we see in training, we’re confident he’ll become an important player for us. We have full faith in him.”

ATTACKING POTENTIAL

“We’re working a lot on finishing, but without overdoing it – sometimes pushing too hard can have the opposite effect. What matters is that we keep giving our all and continue striving to improve every day.”
