VICENTE GUAITA: “I’M HERE TO HELP THE TEAM”

Collecchio, Thursday 27 November 2025 – The words of goalkeeper Vicente Guaita, speaking at his presentation press conference in the Mutti Training Center auditorium alongside CEO Federico Cherubini.

“My arrival here happened at a difficult moment: Suzuki suffered a serious injury, so Parma contacted my agent to ask whether I’d be willing to come in and help the team. I’m happy to be here and to be able to contribute. My first impressions? When I arrived, I told Pellegrino that his father coached me and that I have great memories of that period at Valencia. As for Mateo, he’s an excellent striker – he scored twice in Verona last week and I’m very happy for him. I didn’t know Carlos Cuesta personally, but I know he worked at Arsenal. The coach has real energy, he gets a lot across to the players, and he’s very clear about the aim: stay in Serie A and improve as much as possible.

Choosing to come here wasn’t easy, as it meant relocating my whole family and learning a new language. But some friends spoke very highly of Serie A. Now I’m here and available, so I’ll work as hard as I can to be ready as soon as possible.”

THE CALL

“I wasn’t expecting it. These kinds of calls – when a player gets injured – always take you by surprise, but you have to be ready because these things happen. Granted, the January window was coming up, but Parma reached out first, and here I am.

I had offers in the summer, but none convinced me. My last match was on 24 May? Yes, but over the summer I trained in Valencia with a coach friend of mine, and I play various other sports too. My nickname, ‘the best’? I’ve always tried to give everything for every club I’ve played for. What I can say is that at every club the fans always appreciated me – I’ve always felt that recognition. In the end, the coach chooses the starting XI, but winning over the fans is something really special.”

HELPING HIS TEAM-MATES

“Corvi said I helped him? Yes – I like helping my team-mates; it’s something I’ve always done. He had an excellent game in Verona and fully deserved the applause he received. Am I the most experienced? Yes, but just as I can be an example for them, the younger players can be an example for me. My idol? Santiago Cañizares.”
