HEAD COACH CARLOS CUESTA: ”I'M PROUD OF THE TEAM, A BIG THANK YOU TO THE FANS”

Parma, 12 April, 2026 - Head Coach Carlos Cuesta spoke after Parma vs. Napoli, on Matchday 32 of Serie A.

'I want to thank the players for all the hard work today and also to the fans who helped us a lot today with their incredible support, pushing us to go the extra mile. That really helped us to cause problems for Napoli. We wanted to give the fans a win and enjoy the afternoon today, but we weren't able to pull it off. We'll take the point, but the mindset goes beyong the standings. We need to represent Parma with honour and always give our best, no matter where we are. The job isn’t done yet, we know we still have a lot of work to do, and it’s a privilege to be here, especially with fans who support us like this. I said on my first day here that I had no expectations. What I wanted was to work as hard as possible to raise the level, and because of that we never settle. We know there are six games left, and we see them as six opportunities, six weeks to keep working and improving. Defensively, the effort and concentration from the players was incredible. Many names come to mind, but above all it's the group.Everyone works for each other, everyone sacrifices to get the result. That said, our ambition doesn’t stop here, and I’m proud of how this team responds in any situation. Elphege? We try to make the most of each player’s characteristics, we can’t ask him to be Pellegrino or the other way around. We want to play to their strengths. He gave everything today and has a real hunger. He works hard with a smile, helps his teammates a lot, and has been loved around here since day one. He has made this group even stronger. We hope he can keep buildiing continuity whenever he plays. The match? We conceded a goal that cost us the win. The players’ concentration was incredible, but it's frustrating because it’s the second time in a week that we’ve taken the lead and then conceded. In the second half, fatigue sets in and it becomes harder to manage the game, but we wanted to give the fans a win to celebrate together. They gave us incredible energy, and we hope to feel it again in two weeks when we play at home against Pisa. Relegation battle? Let’s focus on working well this week ahead of a very difficult match in Udine. They are coming off a very positive run of results. We know we must keep improving to compete there too.'
