REMEMBERING ROCCO COMMISSO

“First of all, I join the club and Fiorentina in mourning the passing of Rocco Commisso. Our thoughts are with him and his family.”

GENOA

“After the last two games, we want to find some consistency, earn points, put in a strong performance, and give our fans something to cheer about. It’ll be a battle of duels, and we’ll need to give everything to get a result. Genoa have a very clear identity – they have a direct style and pick out their forwards quickly. We know their strengths, but we also need to make the most of our own qualities. The team are ready, the players are focused, and everyone has the right mindset to approach the match in the best way possible. Character and courage will be needed. There will be different phases in the game: we’ll need to be aggressive at times but also defend in a low block. The players are ready to give their all on the pitch. They understand the importance of the game, and I’m proud of every one of them.”

FOCUS AND CONSISTENCY

“Our focus must always be at its highest. We can’t let our level slip, because we’re facing a team in great form. It’s important to keep improving match by match and to build consistency in our results. I’m proud of the players I have and how they train day in, day out. In terms of whether we prioritise playing good football or getting a result, our goal is to give ourselves the best chance to get a positive outcome. To do that, we have to do things properly, and usually when you play well, the result comes as a consequence.”

THE MATCH AGAINST NAPOLI

“There were some aspects that were very good in Naples, but we could have spent more time in the opposition half and done a few things better defensively. That said, we were up against a very strong Napoli side. It was a good performance, but we can’t be satisfied – we need to keep looking for solutions.”

MORALE

“After Napoli, every training session has been of a very high level. The players are aware that we always want to achieve more. We need to stay focused on the present, because the past is something we can no longer change.”

“We make the choices we consider right, based on the day-to-day work and our knowledge of the players’ qualities. Fortunately, my staff is extremely well-prepared and helps me make the best decisions.”
