Parma, Tuesday 19 May 2026 – The inauguration ceremony of a new school library took place this afternoon at the “Padre Lino Maupas” Primary School in Vicofertile, in a deeply emotional moment that championed community spirit, dedicated to the memory of Matteo Cerato, the young boy who tragically passed away at just 10 years old following a sudden illness that took him from the love of his family, classmates and school community.

To honour Matteo’s memory and support his family and the school, Parma Calcio took part in the event with a special delegation, bringing together representatives from both the Men’s First Team and the Women’s First Team for a day in which sport became a vehicle for unity, closeness and affection.

Present at the event were Gialloblu players Caterina Ambrosi, Matilde Copetti, Danielle Cox, Laura Dominguez, Zsanett Kajan and Cristina Navarro Redondo, alongside Mariano Troilo and Abdoulaye Ndiaye. Together with teachers and Matteo’s family, they took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony before visiting the new areas dedicated to reading and study for the children.

Earlier in the afternoon, the school’s 230 pupils gathered in the gymnasium due to the high level of attendance. As Matteo’s parents, Andrea and Irene, entered alongside the Parma Calcio delegation and representatives of the “I cittadini di Vicofertile” Association, they were met with a heartfelt welcome filled with emotion, applause and chants from the children. The first part of the day was dedicated to reading, one of Matteo’s greatest passions alongside football. Matteo’s father Andrea, together with his mother Irene, Parma Calcio Women captain Caterina Ambrosi and the school’s teachers, read stories to the children in attendance. The delegation then spent time with the pupils in a moment of community, signing autographs and bringing smiles to the young students in Matteo’s name — whose memory will continue to live on in the heart of the school and wider area through this new educational space.

Through the voluntary donations of Mariano Troilo and Abdoulaye Ndiaye, Parma Calcio also sought to actively support Matteo’s family, the children, the school and the entire Vicofertile community, reinforcing the importance of culture and education for future generations, so that Matteo’s smile may continue to represent a moment of sharing and togetherness for all.
