Parma, 27 February 2026 – After the 1-1 draw with Cagliari on Matchday 27 of Serie A, Carlos Cuesta reflected on Parma's performance.
“Spirit is an important quality in our team, but so is our commitment to achieving results through high-level performances. We worked hard from the off and created important chances in the first half, but they did well to interrupt our buildup with individual moments. In the second half we managed to attack more in their half.
It was difficult — they’re very compact. When you put balls into the box you can score, but with their pace on the counter it’s always 50-50. We'll take the point – we wanted three, but that’s football. We showed patience and balance. If you move the ball too slowly or too wide, you don’t create and you can’t shift their lines. At times we were too patient, but when we moved it quickly and in the right way, we scored. That’s part of our growth process. You have to stay compact defensively, even when attacking. Organisation is key, and we’re working on that. Now we focus on preparing for Fiorentina. It will be very difficult. We prepare day by day — no expectations, just raising our level to deliver better performances. Oristanio? He’s an engine. Even when he has difficulties, he never gives up. He’s always looking to show himself at his best. He’s helped the team a lot — even in games when he hasn’t scored, he’s contributed defensively. To chase Obert down like that in the 85th minute, it shows he always gives everything for the team. Work gets rewarded. He has to keep going and continue to improve. The equaliser showed our determination. They’re organised, and after their goal they became even more compact, with more bodies in their area, but we managed to break through and earned a point. The secret? Growth. We know the road is long and we must use every day to improve. Humility is essential. It’s part of our job, central to everything while working at the maximum every day. This team has it in its head, body and heart, and it must stay that way.”
