PARMA LEGENDS, AN EMOTIONAL DEBUT

Seeing the players who wrote glorious chapters of Parma Calcio’s history back on the pitch always brings priceless emotions. Exactly those emotions were felt at Olympique Lyon’s Groupama Training Center as the Parma Legends team made their official debut. Apolloni, Melli, Osio and Dino Baggio were just some of the players who took to the pitch to take on Olympique Lyon legends as part of the celebrations for the French club’s 75th anniversary.

The final score saw Olympique Lyon Legends prevail 4-2, but Parma fully honoured the occasion, holding the lead for 57 of the 80 minutes (40 per half). The first half ended 2-1 in favour of the side managed by Nevio Scala, thanks to goals from Martinez – finishing off a fine run by Zaccardo and a clever flick from Melli – and Zé Maria from the penalty spot, awarded for a foul on Pisanu. In the second half, the home side took control, scoring three goals after Mondini had saved a penalty. During the match, Parma fielded Ballotta, Iacoponi, Apolloni, Gagliolo, Zaccardo, Dino Baggio, Giorgino, Martinez, Di Chiara, Osio, Melli, Mondini, Santacroce, Zé Maria, Giandebiaggi, Pisanu, Pizzi and Savi.

In the end, the result matters little. What truly counts is continuing to carry the name and values of Parma Calcio across pitches in Italy and Europe through the Club’s champions – players who were part of different historic moments for Parma, yet all remain firmly in the hearts of the fans.
