CARLOS CUESTA: “WE LACKED SHARPNESS IN THEIR HALF”

Parma, 29 November 2025 - Carlos Cuesta, had the following to say after Parma’s 2-0 home defeat to Udinese on matchday 13 of the 2025/26 Serie A Enilive season:

“In the first 15 minutes, they managed to take the game where they wanted, but we improved as the match went on and caused more problems for them, especially in the second half. Then came the penalty and the sending-off, which changed the game, even though we kept trying. We’re sorry for the fans. Now, our focus turns immediately to Thursday’s match because it’s important.

“Valeri? We knew he didn’t have the full 90 minutes in him, but he was ready to start. Ondrejka came on well, posed a threat, and got into attacking positions. Like Valeri, he’s still getting up to match fitness, since he went more than six months without playing a competitive match.

“There were things missing today. We struggled to escape Udinese’s press, especially at the start, and we weren’t sharp enough in their half, even though we had some opportunities to hurt them. The opening goal? I haven’t watched it back yet, but there’s another statistic that really makes us think: in the last seven games, three times we’ve been reduced to ten men and conceded three penalties. That’s definitely an area we need to improve immediately to be competitive. We know it’s part of the game, but our job is to reduce these errors as much as possible.

I’ll say it again: we’re disappointed because we wanted to celebrate another result with our fans. We gave everything, and it wasn’t enough. Now, it’s back to work to be ready for Bologna.”
