COACH CARLOS CUESTA: “WE GAVE EVERYTHING, WE JUST NEED TO BE MORE CLINICAL”

Rome, Wednesday 29 October 2025 – The post-match thoughts of Carlos Cuesta following Roma vs Parma, on Matchday 9 of Serie A 2025/26.

“We gave absolutely everything tonight, and when you do that, there’s nothing more you can ask for. Regrets? When you give your all in life, you can’t have regrets. I saw a lot of positives in our performance. Of course, it’s not the result we wanted, but with a little more precision in front of goal, we might have got what we deserved.

We managed to spend long spells in Roma’s half and create chances, so I’m confident that trend will turn in our favour. What matters now is to stay optimistic while also analysing what didn’t work and improving it. Our focus shifts immediately to Bologna, where we’ll look to give our best and get a strong result.

If you ask me about optimism, I’d say that comes from the players. I try to set a positive tone, but they’re the ones with the incredible attitude – they always give everything. The average age is low, yes, but personality isn’t about age. It’s about mentality, about how you live and work every day. That’s what we try to maintain as a group, because that mindset allows you to produce high-level performances and achieve good results.

I feel a lot of empathy with my players. I believe people always want to do their best, and when that’s the case, as a coach you do everything you can to help them succeed. Cremaschi can really make a difference. We need to speed up his integration so he can help the team as much as possible.”
