Parma, September 29, 2025 – Coach Carlos Cuesta, spoke after the game against Torino on the fifth matchday of Serie A 2025/26.
“First win for you and Parma in Serie A? I’m very happy, especially for the players and the fans, and everyone at the Club that has worked so hard. The fans helped a lot in today’s game, even in the tough moments they were with us. And we managed to achieve the result we wanted. Since I arrived, the players have shown a desire to improve, a willingness to give their all, and a heart - that’s what I see every day. This makes me really happy, especially seeing great nights like this one. The heart sign at the end of the match? It’s for my wife, who was up there suffering with me. The first half? Credit to Torino because they were great at setting up the game the way they wanted, and we weren’t able to play as we intended into their half. We weren’t very effective at pressing high up, only a few times, like when Bernabé had that counterattack. Certainly, we improved as the game went on. The more the game developed, the better we played. I’m impressed with the progress and the result. Oristanio? In the end, he’s following an individual training program since his arrival. He will help us a lot this season, and today he started. This team selection will be prepared and developed further. The key to the match? It was the connection between everyone, between fans and the players with a common goal – to help us and do our best to win games. Even when we don’t dominate as much as we’d like, we manage to find a solution. This is the correct mentality and the basis for a victory. How close do I feel to Parma? Parma is close, it connects with the heart. And that’s the first thing you need to build if you want to have a true identity. I see the boys connecting with the idea, they are always eager, I can see their energy and passion. That’s the first step to embarking on a journey of positive results. Beyond that, the performance, especially in the first 30-35 minutes, was not up to scratch and we want to improve. Now we will focus to be our best because we are facing a very tough game on Saturday. So, we are enjoying this win but at the same time we need to prepare for what’s to come. It will be a difficult match against Lecce. What did I say to the boys after the game? That I am blown away by their hearts. They showed up in the difficult moments. In the first four games, we didn’t get the results we wanted, but despite that, it never affected our desire or our attitude. At the end of the day, the hard work paid off. I was glad to see the team smiling, that comes from working hard. But we know where we need to work and improve. The solution with Oristanio, Cutrone and Pellegrino? We will see based on their form and the kind of game we want to play. We will decide accordingly.”
