ALESSANDRO CIRCATI: “IT’S A STEP FORWARD AND POSITIVE THAT WE DIDN’T CONCEDE”

Cremona, September 21, 2025 – Defender Alessandro Circati, spoke after the game against Cremonese, on the fourth matchday of Serie A 2025/26.

“Keeping a clean sheet was the goal in the previous matches, but we hadn’t managed it until now. So that’s something positive, though of course we always want to win. In the opening minutes of the game, it took us a bit of time to settle – Mateo hit the post - and in the second half there were two or three chances, but the goal didn’t come. We’re focused on the next match now. My role? I feel comfortable there. I played in this position last year for 45 minutes against Napoli and the full 90 against Atalanta. It’s a spot where I feel free and brings out my best qualities. Working together with Ndiaye? He’s an excellent player with great physical strength. The more time goes on, the better we connect. He’s learning Italian and English and our chemistry is improving. What did we lack to win? Out mindset was always to go out and score, to bring home three points. Sometimes you don’t score, and that’s what happened today. We have to be content with one point. We’re a very young team, full of enthusiasm, and in every match, we want to show what we can do and always aim to win. With each game we improve, learn each other’s strengths, and work on them in training. We need to keep working with the right mindset. Vardy? He’s a very good player. I would have liked to play against him, but Cremonese have other strong players as well. I’ll get the chance to face Vardy next time. Wearing the captain’s armband for my national team? It’s a great feeling and it gives me a lot of confidence. Everyone congratulated me.”
