Coverciano, 1 September 2025- Parma Calcio Women took part today in a workshop held at Museo del Cacio in Coverciano, centred on the introduction of Football Video Support in the 2025/26 Serie A Women’s Championship.
The meeting, promoted by FIGC, AIA, and Serie A Women, saw the participation of representatives from the twelve clubs in the top women’s league, along with Serie A Women President Federica Cappelletti, CAN C head Daniele Orsata, and FIFA VAR project leader Massimiliano Irrati.
During the workshop, the players were introduced to the guidelines for how the new system is used. The tool is being experimentally introduced by FIFA in only three leagues worldwide: Serie A Women, Spain’s Liga F, and the American NWSL.
Football video support will allow coaches to request a review of incidents in the game by the referee through a conventional signal and by handing a card to the fourth official/ Situations eligible for review include the validity of a goal, awarding (or not) a penalty, direct red cards, and cases of mistaken identity. In Serie A Women, each goal scored will also be checked on the monitor by the referee before play resumes.
Each coach can request Football Video Support a maximum of two times per game, though the request won’t count if it leads to a change in the referee’s decision.
Parma Calcio Women was represented by head coach Giovanni Valenti, captain Caterina Ambrosi, and Team Manager Elisabetta Ferrari, along with the Club’s Referee Manager Lorenzo Manganelli.
